made it to march 28

As if anyone is actually reading this.. but for future web archivists.... or i guess for myself.

I made it to march 28th before I had a free dinner at Street on melrose which included all manners of meat that i partook in.

Still, seeing as how i basically started this "diet" a day or two early i made it at least 28-30 days, 4 weeks, not too bad overall.

I had fun, lost a little weight, not as much as I would've liked. I didn't push myself to count my points enough.

but it was still fun.

My next challenge is to devote myself to finishing my 30 day challenge on ea sports active 2 that i picke dup on sale. Then borrow nfl training camp from a friend.

My next food challenge might be chicken... we'll see.

as I figured, I haven't done a good job keeping up this blog.

But I have done a good job with my diet. Not getting the wight loss I hoped for, but I have avoided meat except for one really good breakfast burrito... but hey, chorizo, sausage, ham and bacon in a good breakfast burrito your coworkers bring, that all counts as vegetarian with bacon right?

Tonight I made some delicious bacon fried rice and some stir fried tofu with bell peppers.

Last night was a church potluck, when I told my pastor I had to pass on the meat he accused me of practicing lent. lol.

almost half-way through :)

Two tough challenges in one day

So today was the day my coworkers bring in breakfast, usually there are plenty of pastries among the goodies. Except when we get subway or banh mis. Today was subway. (thank goodness, I cannot resist banh mis) so I went ahead and enjoyed a veggie sub.

I also managed to leave my lunch in the car today. twas to be the first day I was gonna try veggie turkey.

So I visited the farmers market and enjoyed a delicious tofu spring roll and a tamale with veggies in it. And had a short conversation about my plan with the spring roll guy.

No idea on what to have for dinner tonight. Maybe bulger with squash if the squash is still good and it doesn't take too long to make.

Day two

Pretty lax day. Had some eggs, bacon, and leftover black bean chili last night. Also made some no knead bread. Came out amazing as always.

Tonight is where bacon takes a twist. I have decided that pepperoni counts as bacon. I'm heading over to my friend chuck's for my weekly screenwriting group. And he always makes pizza, usually pepperoni, so I decided, instead of inconveniencing him I'm just letting pepperoni count as bacon.

Day 1!

Well, last night's keftah went well. a full on blogpost/recipe will be forthcoming. I tend to not actually read recipes to the end before I start cooking sometimes... not the best habit. So I didn't realize that the recipe kind of just made appetizers, so I supplemented dinner with some broccoli cheese soup i had from vons.

Today for breakfast i had some greek yogurt with some of my new hemp granola.

Lunch was that BLT I made. Precooked bacon is pretty good, but next time i'm going to microwave it, then let it cool before throwing it in the sandwich, get that crispiness in it. I'll also go red pepper instead of tomato.

I also had some popchips, some soda, and an apple. I know, fascinating stuff.

For dinner I have planned to take some left over black bean chili, and then make some sort of egg/tofu scramble and throw in some soy sauce that's just expired before I throw it out. assuming it passes the taste test. (can soy sauce really expire with that much salt in it?)

till then!

More preparation

Went to a couple markets today... (my day off is now monday, which actually makes this project easier to do.)

First a local "international (middle eastern)" Market:

That Bulger is for tonight, going to try my hand at Keftah, I'll try to post about the process, make it my first real Recipe Blog Post. Later this month i'll try to find a recipe for taublloueh, I tried that once at the veggie grill and it was outstanding.

This is my emergency lunch, if i can't come up with anything else for lunch, Fake turkey!....

These are my "emergency" foods, For nights when I don't have time to cook, but need a meal. The indian ones I could prepare myself, but they take awhile. Week 3 might be "indian food week"

The mayan Harvest bake is one of the food products that inspired this trip. It is quite possibly the best frozen meal ever made, despite (or because of?) being vegetarian (maybe even vegan)

I have a plan to try and recreate this recipe, maybe next monday. I'll try it twice, once without googling for help, and once after...

So, yeah, I went a little crazy at the bulk foods sale at Sprouts. Got some 7 bean and barley soup, rice, some granola with hemp, and Some quinoa for later on...

Also made my first blts for tomorrow's lunch, forgot to take a photo.

but I did take a photo of yesterday's bacon buy!

enjoy!

Preparations

Got blogger for my phone. Woot. Went to costco and bought a pack of pre cooked bacon. Along with some veggies. Sadly no black bean burgers, that's a bad thing... Made black bean chili tonight while watching the oscars, I'll share more on that when I'm not on my phone.

Welcome to bacon vegetarian

Just a little experiement I wanted to try for myself. I've been going to farmer's markets and have a really cool cookbook called"best recipes for health" which has some delicious vegetarian dishes in it. So I thought, i wonder if I could go vegetarian for a whole month...

But then I thought, that's boring. and I remembered these delicious black bean burger patties they sell at costco and how good they were with eggs and bacon, and I had my answer.

I am going to attempt to go the entire month of March eating only Vegetarian meals with splashes of bacon (as well as egg and cheese and milk, don't know if those are vegetarian or not, whatever)

The point of this blog is to keep me accountable, I'll list the recipes I make, the food I eat and a rough idea of my weight watcher points and see if I can lose 5-10 pounds while doing this.

wish me luck!
